Opening:
The meeting of the GBACC Board was called to order at 5:32 pm on November 7, 2016 by GBACC President Terry Lewis.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from October 2016 were approved by motion from Michelle, second from Tim
Approval of the Treasurer’s Report
GBACC Treasurer Ellis Burruss gave the report. The report was approved as given.
Open Issues
Office:
- The space at 9 West Potomac Street is unsuitable for our needs. The City has indicated that they will need us to acquire a Use and Occupancy permit. Doing that will require negotiations with the property owner and will start a cascade of events which will commit GBACC to unanticipated expenses. The board decided to move our supplies to a member’s house for the time being. We will discuss a long-range plan — and budget — for an office in the next few months.
November GBACC Business Meeting:
Tim will confirm the space for the November 14th General Membership meeting at the American Legion for GBACC. The new Board and changes to the By Laws will be approved at the meeting. Carlo Alfano from Rivers Edge Park will speak about the progress on the project and show a short video. Allison Wilder will discuss the EDC new marketing plan. A $500 donation will be given to Rivers Edge Park and GBACC businesses will be asked if they would like to contribute more. Terry will supply the snacks. There will not be a bar but attendees can get drinks downstairs.
New members will be encouraged to join at the Expo and invited to the Nov. 14 meeting.
Ellis will prepare the changes for the By Laws for Terry to send out on Constant Contact. A photo will be taken of the 2017 GBACC Board
Welcome Totes Distribution:
The current batch of totes will be distributed by Tim and Ellis.
The date for the next distribution of the Welcome Totes will be December 10th with stuffing of the totes done on Friday, Dec 9th at City Hall. 40 totes will be stuffed. Deadline to get your advertising material in will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Jerry will find out if Brunswick Crossing needs any.
End of Year Reception:
December 8th is the date for the GBACC End of the Year Reception. Ellis will confirm with the Brunswick Heritage Museum on this date. The hours would be 6:00 to 8:00 PM. $200 donation will be made to same groups as last year. Jerry will ask the groups to send a representative. Michelle will do the refreshment and purchase the wine and Ellis will purchase the beer from Smoketown.
Brunswick Business Expo:
All the spaces are filled. Set up will be 7:00pm on Wed. night and doors will open at 3:00p, on Thursday. Mayor Jeff will do the initial welcome and then introduce Mayor Zoldas as MC. It was decided that winners of door prizes will go to the stage to claim their winning ticket, then go to the exhibitor to claim their prize. The winners of the cash prizes do not need to be present.
