Opening:
The meeting of the GBACC Board was called to order at 5:32 pm on October 3, 2016 by GBACC President Terry Lewis.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from September 2016 were approved by motion from Callie, second from Sheila
Approval of the Treasurer’s Report
GBACC Treasurer Ellis Burruss gave the report. The report was approved as given.
Open Issues
Lovettsville Oktoberfest and Railroad Days:
- Both events were good for getting the GBACC message out. The location of the GBACC table at Oktoberfest was not ideal for good traffic.
BIZ 101:
BIZ 101 is Tuesday, October 4 at the Brunswick Heritage Museum, “How to use Facebook for your Business”. There are 19 people attending. Doors open at 6 pm, class from 6:30 to 8:00. Christina will introduce her employee who will teach. Ellis and Tim will set up the room and Ellis will purchase the refreshments.
Brunswick Business Expo:
Ellis reported there are five restaurants signed up for the Expo. Approximately 35 – 40 businesses are signed up for the Expo. Terry will check with the Fire Hall to make sure everything is confirmed. A large ad in the Frederick News post 72 Hours will cover the whole County showing that Brunswick is active. We will ask the EDC to place the ad. We will also do a Frederick News Post insert.
Welcome Totes Distribution:
The date for the next distribution of the Welcome Totes will be October 29 & 30th. 80 totes will be stuffed. There are 40 for GBACC and 40 for Brunswick Crossing. Deadline to get your advertising material in will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
November Meeting:
Tim will find out if November 14, 16, or 17 will work for the American Legion for GBACC to hold a Member General Meeting (it was approved for the 14th). The new Board and changes to the By Laws will be approved. It proposed we invite Carlo Alfano from Rivers Edge Park to speak about the progress on the project. Allison Wilder will be invited to discuss the EDC new marketing plan. A $500 donation will be given to Rivers Edge Park and GBACC businesses will be asked if they would like to contribute more.
End of Year Reception:
December 8th is the date recommended for the GBACC End of the Year Reception. Ellis will check with the Brunswick Heritage Museum to see if the date is available. The hours would be 6:00 to 8:00 PM. $200 donation will be made to same groups as last year. GBACC business will be encouraged to add to the donations.
2017 Business Directory:
The EDC will be invited to participate in the publication of the Business Directory. It was suggested a calendar of major local events be added to the Directory along with a map of Lovettsville.
New Business
Name Tags
Terry Lewis suggested name tags be purchased for board members to be worn at special events. A motion was made by Carrie, Second by Sheila and was passed 4 to 1.
